How to Apply for CalWORKs

CalWORKs applicants must fill out an application form at the county Social Services Agency office that serves the city in which they live. 

• If the individual is under 18 years of age, never married and pregnant or have a child he/she must live with the parent(s) and the parent(s) must apply for the minor unless he/she meets an exception.
  
  
• CalWORKs applicants can ask for Food Stamps and Medi-Cal benefits at the same time by using the same form.
  
  
• After completing and turning in the application form, the County will have the applicant talk to a worker.
  
  
• If an emergency situation exists, the applicant should ask for help right away.
